Community Resources

Client coordination is essential for the success of this project. Augustina Quainoo, the head madam at the Tamale Children’s Home, was very helpful and met several times with the assessment team to discuss the Home’s needs, and the resident’s daily routines that may affect the design.
Steve Tecku, District Assembly Engineer, was very excited to again be involved in a project to help the children of his community and agreed to keep in contact with the design group throughout the design and construction process. He said that there is no formal permitting process for the Tamale District, and that any construction was allowed if he gave permission. The local fire department will be providing us with two teachers to instruct the women how to properly use propane.  The Human Resource Services (Child Rights and Protection) director, John Ankrah, has sufficient authority to ensure the Children’s Home has the resources it needs to utilize the planned improvements. John Ankrah also assisted Madame Quainoo by supporting her efforts to convince the cooks that we are trying to help improve their cooking situation.
